GIRLS: Do modern American girls like strong men?

Merely trying to get some perspective from the ladies' side here. I am a 26 year old blue-eyed, brown haired Scandinavian immigrant. Not fat with a 6ft, 245 lbs powerlifter build. It seems as though most modern American girls don't like us old chivalric masculine types. I am not a chauvinist nor am I bragging about myself. I'm really just looking for a sweet, intelligent girl to love. Not looking for just another lay. Do you ladies have any pointers on how to make this happen? Honesty is appreciated.
